New WMV cleaning system: more efficient blasting

The results of the newly developed WMV cleaning system are significantly more efficient processes, greater flexibility and improved component quality - with reduced space requirements and lower costs. The system is fully automated and can now be experienced in the new WMV technical center. "Our solution is unique on the market," emphasize Michael Kamp, Management Board Sales at WMV, and Herrmann Walkenhorst, Head of Sales at Sinto AGTOS. Within a year, the blasting process was rethought from the ground up: away from troughed belt technology and towards an integrated drum concept that eliminates the need for time-consuming transfer and significantly improves handling and process reliability.

Measurable efficiency gain of the WMV cleaning system

The exchangeable drum is made of highly wear-resistant material from blasting technology and is designed for all steps of the cleaning process - from oil removal to washing, drying and blasting. The newly developed design enables quick drum changes without interrupting production, optimum positioning and different perforations for rapid drainage of the blast media. The efficiency gain is measurable: 35 % faster throughput time (throughput time has been reduced by up to 4 minutes thanks to faster drum handling) with 98 % availability, 15 % faster blasting time, 100 % performance retention (drum change takes place without production downtime), 0 % machine downtime for troughed belt changes (time, costs and personnel for troughed belt changes are eliminated) and up to 20 % less space required (change drum is transported above the blast machines). Thanks to the continuous circulation in the centrifuge, components are processed more thoroughly and gently - regardless of contour, size or shape. The system is flexibly scalable to different product requirements and can be fully integrated into the WMV modular system as well as into existing Sinto AGTOS cleaning systems.
