WMV Surface Technology Inc.: WMV expands US site

With the founding of WMV Surface Technology Inc., WMV is strengthening its presence in the USA. The plant manufacturer is thus laying the foundations for sustainable, strategic growth in the areas of surface treatment and automation in the USA.
WMV has been represented in the USA since 1999. The Pontiac site in Detroit, Michigan is now being systematically expanded. According to the company, the aim is to strengthen its market presence, intensify its proximity to customers and partners and bring WMV's innovative solutions to the market even faster. "We have been pursuing this vision for a very long time," says WMV CEO Martin Müller. The establishment of the company's own production facility for complete electroplating systems using the expertise acquired from UAS in 2023 already marked an important milestone on the path to more growth in the USA. "Now is the right time to increase our vertical integration and consistently expand WMV's service offerings," says Müller.
Production of WMV system components in the USA
With the new General Manager Matt Ulewicz, the step-by-step expansion of the production of WMV system components for surface treatment and the spare parts warehouse on site began on August 25, 2025. This will allow new systems to be introduced to the US market more quickly and cost-effectively, while existing systems can be optimally maintained and spare parts can be provided promptly. In addition to the already existing and highly appreciated 24/7 hotline, WMV specialists are increasingly available in person to train, advise and support the people on site at the plants.
Engineering the systems in Germany
In order to strategically align the site for growth from the outset, the management of WMV Surface Technology Inc. has been transferred to Matt Ulewicz. He will be supported by our long-standing colleague on site, Aron Lorenz, who will be available as a contact person and consultant for our customers on site with his expertise. The team is further strengthened by Chris Fitzpatrick, who is responsible for technical management. Fitzpatrick has many years of experience in the development and implementation of automated system solutions for surface treatment. The engineering of WMV system components will continue to be carried out entirely in Germany. In this way, WMV ensures its customers in the USA 'German Engineering' with the highest quality standards and technical precision.
