The advanced powder Xtend coating system from WMV combines a drum changing system and robot handling for the first time. This increases output to 7,500 kg per hour, while maintaining stable two-minute cycles and an increased batch weight of 250 kg.

WMV has already set new standards with the development of the WMV Pulz Xtreme and Pulz Xtend planetary circulation coating centrifuges: consistently high coating quality, maximum flexibility with regard to the shape, size and material of the parts and media savings of up to 30%. Now the latest evolution of the Pulz Xtend marks the next milestone: by combining WMV's innovative drum changing system with robot automation for drum handling, the output per coating layer is significantly improved to a total of 7,500 kg/hour - with a stable cycle time of just 2 minutes. In addition, the drum volume and therefore the loading weight could be increased from 200 kg to 250 kg per batch thanks to further design developments.

Powerful centrifuge technology for resource-saving coatings

According to the manufacturer, the Pulz technology impresses with its unique centrifugal performance: within seconds of immersion, it achieves a centrifugal force of up to 32 g. While simultaneously changing the position of the goods, excess coating medium is removed from even the smallest undercuts in the goods to be coated by means of item-specific centrifuging. The result: uniform coating thickness with up to 30 % less media consumption. The coating medium that is spun off is collected and fed back into the process. "In combination with robot automation, the Pulz Xtend is the world's first coating system that can coat batches of up to 250 kg in a continuous 2-minute cycle with high centrifugal force and simultaneous position changes," says Johannes Dittmann, Sales & Project Engineer WMV. The robot arm with special gripper is designed so that it does not come into contact with the coating medium. This ensures high coating quality without contaminating the medium.
