Freilacke Celebrates Topping-Out Ceremony for Its New Product Technology Center

Freilacke celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new Product Technology Center (PTC). Numerous guests from the trades, the architecture industry, and the project team gathered to mark the successful completion of the structural work.
The topping-out ceremony for the Freilacke Product Technology Center was opened by Managing Director Dr. Rainer Frei, who emphasized the importance of the new building for the company’s future. The PTC will serve as the technical heart of Freilacke and bring together state-of-the-art development, application, and training facilities under one roof. “With the topping-out ceremony, we can look back on a project that has proceeded smoothly so far. The excellent work of the tradespeople, the high quality of construction, and strict adherence to the schedule lay the foundation for us to be able to put our Product Technology Center into operation as planned in the spring of 2027,” says Dr. Rainer Frei. The traditional topping-out speech was delivered by Mr. Lonscha from the structural engineering firm Stumpp in Rottweil, which successfully completed the structural work. The construction project is now moving on to the next phase as scheduled. Work on the interior, as well as on the facade, windows, and doors, began as early as July 2026. Completion of the new Product Technology Center is scheduled for April 2027. The construction project thus remains on schedule.
Development, Application, and Knowledge Transfer at the Freilacke PTC
The three-story building combines development, application technology, product presentation, and customer training in a modern work environment. The ground floor houses application technology for powder and liquid coatings using state-of-the-art application methods. In the future, the concept of system coatings can also be taught here in a practical manner, as powder and liquid coatings can be applied at a single location for the first time. This will allow technical customer training sessions to be designed in an even more practical and illustrative way. On the upper floor, development laboratories are planned for water-based and solvent-based liquid coatings, as well as for PG composite systems. In addition, the second floor will feature a spacious training and meeting area for customer events, seminars, and professional exchanges. With the new Product Technology Center (PTC), Freilacke is creating optimal conditions for even more closely integrating development, application technology, product presentation, and customer service. State-of-the-art laboratory and application technology form the foundation for meeting the growing demands of research, development, and practical customer training. With this forward-looking investment, Freilacke is strengthening its Döggingen location and creating a center of excellence where customers can experience and test innovative coating solutions under real-world conditions and further develop them in collaboration with the paint manufacturer’s experts. The PTC was announced as a strategic investment in the future of the company and its customers as early as the groundbreaking ceremony.
