Lach Diamant to Showcase PCD Tools at AMB 2026

At AMB 2026, taking place September 15–19 in Stuttgart, Lach Diamant will showcase its “Dreborid” tools for milling, turning, and drilling, as well as diamond and CBN grinding wheels. A highlight of the company’s exhibition in Hall 3, Booth D11, is the PCD monoblock milling cutter. The company developed this milling tool, equipped with brazed polycrystalline diamond cutting edges, as early as 1979. Due to its long tool life compared to carbide, the technology initially established itself in the machining of wood and plastic materials and later also in aluminum and composite materials. With the use of PCD monoblock end mills in production lines for light-metal engines, the technology also gained importance in the automotive industry. The load-bearing capacity of the brazed PCD cutting edges was tested, among other things, in a centrifugal force test using a monoblock face mill with a diameter of 125 mm and 16 cutting edges. According to the company, the last undamaged rotational speed was 48,000 min⁻¹, and the failure speed was 49,000 min⁻¹. This results in a safety-permitted rotational speed of up to 24,000 min⁻¹ for this tool design.

PCD Tools for HSC Machining

The current product line ranges from the “Cool Injection” Dia-Monoblock for HSC aluminum machining to the “Cool Injection-plus” version, in which the PCD cutting edge is open to allow the coolant to pass through. The PCD Monoblock milling cutters are delivered fully assembled and dynamically balanced with the desired adapter and can be used on the machine without any additional setup effort. In addition to the AMB, Lach Diamant is also presenting its tool lineup at the IMTS in Chicago.
