The US company Chemeon Surface Technology and SurTec International, both specialized companies in surface technology, have entered into a strategic alliance. The aim is to expand market access and provide efficient and sustainable solutions for surface treatment.

The alliance combines complementary regional strengths: While Chemeon will expand access to select SurTec surface treatment solutions in the US market, SurTec will offer Chemeon products internationally, supporting customers with local technical expertise and an established infrastructure. As stricter regulatory requirements worldwide drive the phase-out of hexavalent chromium, the partnership expands the availability of MIL-DTL-81706B (QPL) qualified chemicals. These include Chemeon's patented eTCP trivalent chemistry-based corrosion protection (with its distinctive purple-colored visual indicator) and the SurTec 650 series of trivalent conversion coatings. "This strategic alliance is an important step in our journey towards safer and more sustainable chemical solutions for surface treatment," said Dr. Madylon Meiling, CEO of Chemeon. "By combining our innovation, experience, marketing and sales expertise, we are expanding access to global supply chains and accelerating the global transition away from hazardous materials. At the same time, we offer end-to-end solutions that improve performance and regulatory compliance."

Chemeon and Surtec alliance strengthens surface treatment portfolio

"This alliance strengthens our global surface treatment portfolio through a targeted collaboration with Chemeon's US expertise," explains Dr. Karsten Grünke, CEO of SurTec. "By combining SurTec's broad technology portfolio and international presence with Chemeon's proven solutions and market knowledge, we are well positioned to support customers - especially in regions with increasing regulatory requirements and high performance demands." Key elements of the strategic alliance between Chemeon and SurTec include the integration of SurTec's US operations with Chemeon's Center of Technical Excellence in Nevada, which will serve as a satellite location for sales activities and training on trivalent conversion coatings and anodizing; cross-training of sales and technical teams to ensure aligned recommendations and consistent customer support; and joint activities in research and development, analytical testing and marketing, including technical webinars and joint appearances at industry trade shows.
