Adphos is replacing the convection drying system previously operated with fossil fuels with the all-electric aNIR drying solution at a printing company specializing in the production of decors and packaging. This will result in considerable cost benefits, including energy savings and a reduction in waste.

A leading global printing company specializing in the production of décor and packaging has opted for an Adphos aNIR drying solution as part of the upgrade of its 5-colour gravure printing press. The convection drying system, which was previously powered by fossil fuels, will be replaced by the all-electric aNIR drying solution. Various drying solutions were tested and compared before the contract was awarded, including systems with IR short and medium wave radiation.

The Adphos aNIR drying solution impressed with the expected benefits: energy savings of over 55% compared to conventional IR systems, thanks to the higher efficiency and instant on/off capability of the Adphos aNIR system. In addition, the compact dryer configuration reduces web travel by over 70%, which also contributes to a remarkable reduction in waste. And finally, a significant improvement in color-to-color print registration and adjustment during the printing process through highly dynamic process parameter adjustments, including press speed ramp-up and ramp-down. The significant cost benefits associated with the integration of the Adphos aNIR drying solution are expected to pay for themselves within just twelve months.
