With the new Atorn VHM HPC/MTC end mill, Hahn + Kolb is introducing a high-performance tool to the market that offers impressive stability thanks to its compact design.

Manufactured from ultra-fine-grain solid carbide (VHM) and featuring a high-quality Ultra coating, the Atorn VHM HPC/MTC milling cutter combines long-lasting performance with high process reliability. It is available in diameters ranging from 3 to 16 mm, with or without a clamping face. The extra-short design of the Atorn VHM HPC/MTC ensures exceptionally stable machining behavior and significantly reduces chip build-up—an advantage for precise roughing, finishing, and grooving operations. The milling cutter is universally applicable and suitable for CNC milling centers, combined turning and milling centers, and automatic lathes.

Milling Cutters for Modern CNC Machining

The Ultra coating, combined with ultra-fine solid carbide grains, forms the basis for consistently reliable machining. The asymmetrical helix angle of 35°/38° contributes to smooth, low-vibration machining, while the rake angle of 10° enables a smooth cut. Center cutting, clearance, and the 45° edge protection chamfer support optimal results. With its sturdy, extra-short design, smooth cutting behavior, and long tool life, the Atorn solid carbide HPC/MTC end mill offers a reliable solution for demanding machining processes. The various designs allow for flexible adaptation to different applications and manufacturing strategies, such as High Performance Cutting (HPC) and Multi-Task Cutting (MTC).
