With the acquisition of Donau-Härterei GmbH in Neu-Ulm, the Härtha Group is expanding its position in the attractive hardening market in southern Germany and strengthening its core business in the field of heat treatment and coating. The transaction was completed in October 2024.
Donau-Härterei GmbH is an established heat treatment company based in Neu-Ulm that has been active in this field since 1989. The acquisition strengthens the Härtha Group's geographical presence in southern Germany and further expands its metal finishing network in this key industrial region. Donau-Härterei has a broad portfolio including heat treatment under inert gas and vacuum, salt bath nitriding, salt bath hardening and induction hardening. The company supplies customers from many sectors, including mechanical and plant engineering, construction and agricultural machinery, toolmaking and mobility. With this acquisition, the Härtha Group is expanding its capacities and can now offer customers in southern Germany even more comprehensive services in the field of heat treatment.
"I would like to warmly welcome the staff of Donau-Härterei, with their high level of technical expertise, to the Härtha family. It is particularly pleasing that the experienced management of Donau-Härterei, Mr. Stefan Schiele and Ms. Ingrid Schiele, will remain on board. By integrating Donau-Härterei into the Härtha Group, we are strengthening our position in southern Germany and can expand our service network in another important region of Europe. With this acquisition, we are consistently pursuing our growth strategy," explains Sven Killmer, CEO of the Härtha Group. Stefan Schiele, Managing Director of Donau-Härterei GmbH, adds: "We are delighted that we have been able to arrange my succession and continuation of the business with the Härtha Group on a long-term basis. We were convinced by the combination of the advantages of a medium-sized group of companies and a very entrepreneurial and agile corporate culture. For us, this means that we will be able to request targeted support in the future while retaining the freedom to make decisions about our activities." "Mr. and Mrs. Schiele have put their heart and soul into building up the company over 35 years. I have great respect for this entrepreneurial achievement. I am delighted that they are both staying on board and that together we can offer continuity for customers and employees," adds Sven Killmer. Since its foundation in 1990, the Härtha Group has been a leading provider in the metal finishing sector. With its broad-based activities, Donau-Härterei will make a direct contribution to the development of the Härtha Group in the future.
