The draft standard E DIN EN ISO 27874/A1 “Metallic and other inorganic coatings—Electrolytic gold and gold alloy coatings for electrical, electronic, and technical purposes—Requirements and test methods – Amendment 1 (ISO 27874:2008/DAM 1:2026)” has been published.

The draft standard E DIN EN ISO 27874/A1, with a publication date of November 2026, specifies the requirements for electroplated gold and gold alloy coatings on metallic and nonmetallic substrates for electrical, electronic, and other technical applications. It also specifies the test methods for determining the properties of these coatings. Although this document does not specify the nature, finish, or roughness of the base material prior to electrolytic deposition, the appearance and suitability of electroplated gold and gold alloy coatings depend on the nature of the base material. It is essential that the purchaser specify the finish and roughness of the substrate in order to confirm the requirements for the product.
