Catas Green Award for furniture varnish from Adler

Adler Lacke receives the newly introduced Catas Green Award from the Italian testing institute Catas for its sustainable furniture coating Bluefin Terra-Diamond. In addition to excellent quality and product safety, the seal also guarantees outstanding environmental properties.
The Catas Quality Award is considered the most important quality seal for products for the woodworking trade and industry in Italy. Now the Italian institute has added a new sustainability certificate to the Quality Award: The Catas Green Award guarantees not only excellent quality and product safety, but also outstanding environmental properties. The first product to receive the coveted award is the sustainable furniture coating Bluefin Terra-Diamond from the Austrian coating manufacturer Adler. The award was preceded by a comprehensive certification of the water-based furniture lacquer in the Catas laboratory. Not only were the environmental properties tested, but also the harmlessness for safety and health in processing, as well as the quality and performance of the product.
"Similar to our own Adler Green label, the Catas Green Award also covers the entire spectrum of sustainability," explains R&D Managing Director Dr. Albert Rössler. For example, Bluefin Terra-Diamond is formulated without the addition of plasticizers, formaldehydes and heavy metals and, thanks to the use of bio-based binders, has a proportion of natural raw materials of around 85 percent and an extremely low VOC content of less than 6 percent. In addition, the transparent furniture coating also impresses with its outstanding product quality: "Thanks to its efficient processing and durable and resistant surface, Bluefin Terra-Diamond also contributes to sustainability," says Dr. Rössler. "In all European markets, we are observing a strong trend towards sustainable products," emphasizes Daniel Pesserer, divisional manager for the furniture industry at Adler. With water-based, environmentally and health-friendly coating systems, processors benefit in several ways: they enable safe application without unpleasant solvent odors, they offer real added value for environmentally conscious customers, and they make a valuable contribution to protecting nature and the climate. I am convinced that sustainable coating systems represent the future of surface finishing."
