BASF Coatings develops 100 car paints with Xiaomi
BASF Coatings is partnering with Xiaomi to co-develop 100 new automotive color shades over the next three years. The three-year initiative will provide 100 exclusive color shades for Xiaomi vehicles.
BASF Coatings has been Xiaomi's surface coatings partner since 2023 and has played a central role in this project. For the first series of new colors, BASF Coatings was involved in all phases from research and development to mass production, providing solutions for all layers of a modern paint structure - including electrocoating, primer, basecoat and clearcoat. The new colors include "Velocity Red", "Dawn Pink (Matt)", "Nightfall Rose" and "Buttercup Yellow", as well as the eye-catching "Amethyst Purple", which uses BASF Coatings' two-layer clearcoat technology to create a crystal-like effect on the Xiaomi special edition models.
