Adler: Furniture Manufacturer Relys on Water-Based NXT Technology
Furniture manufacturer Müller Small Living relies on NXT technology from coatings manufacturer Adler: The Bluefin Pigmores NXT water-based coating delivers ultra-matte, extremely durable surfaces without the need for complex equipment.
The Frisian furniture manufacturer Müller Small Living made a complete switch to water-based finishes and found the perfect partner in Adler, with its new NXT technology. “Sustainability and environmental protection are very important to us,” emphasizes Jochen Müller, who is the fifth-generation owner of the furniture workshop. That’s why his furniture is particularly durable and sturdy. It can withstand even multiple moves without damage, making it a companion for decades. The quality of the finish is correspondingly important—so calling water-based coating expert Adler was a logical step. After an in-depth discussion with Technical Director Matthias Kunst, Adler consultant Thomas Köblitz stopped by for a demonstration. He brought along three possible coating solutions, including the brand-new Bluefin Pigmores NXT. And they were already in the exact Müller shades, since the furniture manufacturer relies on its own color palette developed by the designer duo kaschkasch. “That wasn’t so easy, especially with the new product—we sourced the base directly from the lab in Schwaz and tested it at the Herford facility in no time at all,” recalls Thomas Köblitz.
Smooth Transition to Adler NXT Water-Based Coatings Technology
The Müller team then subjected the painted sample surfaces to their very own quality test: They were simply distributed throughout the break rooms, subjected to extensive wear and tear from coffee cups, cake forks, and the like, and passed around by many hands. The result? Bluefin Pigmore’s NXT from Adler Lacke impressed with a wonderfully matte finish that still offers maximum durability. That’s precisely the secret of NXT: Thanks to a special raw material technology, the surface is immune to glossing, scratch marks, or fingerprints. Until now, such surface coatings could only be achieved with an expensive excimer system—but thanks to Adler, all it takes is a spray gun. The switch to Bluefin Pigmore’s NXT at Müller was therefore very straightforward. The Adler team provided comprehensive support to the furniture manufacturer. For specific challenges, such as edge coating, solutions were quickly found through collaboration. A two-day on-site surface coating training session was extremely well-received. As a result, Müller Small Living was able to announce its successful switch to water-based coatings after just a few months.
