In 1801, the physicist and natural scientist Johann Wilhelm Ritter discovered ultraviolet radiation in Jena. 225 years later, the technology company Hoenle AG is celebrating its 50th anniversary: an anniversary that shows how a physical phenomenon became a key industrial technology.

Founded in 1976 in the greater Munich area by Prof. Dr. Karl Hönle and Dr. Günter Schmid with the aim of developing innovative irradiation solutions for industry and medicine, Hoenle is now one of the leading international suppliers of industrial UV technology and adhesive systems. From a medium-sized company with regional roots to a globally active technology group: this transformation took place thanks to a consistent focus on innovation and growth as the strategic core. "UV light is invisible, but its effect is not. We make this effect precisely controllable, reproducible and economically viable. That was the idea of our founders in 1976, and it still guides our actions today. Together with our customers, we develop solutions that drive industrial high-tech processes forward and create sustainable value for technology, people and the environment," says Dr. Franz Richter, CEO of Hoenle AG. UV technology is used in industrial manufacturing processes for the solvent-free drying and curing of adhesives, paints and varnishes as well as for the chemical-free sterilization of surfaces, air and water. This technology is unbeatably efficient and sustainable.

Hoenle: Five decades of UV expertise

What makes Hoenle unique is the depth of its own expertise along the entire UV value chain: from components such as UV lamps to system integration and application-specific adhesive systems that use UV technology as a curing mechanism. The company has built up this vertical expertise over decades, and it is proving to be a decisive advantage, especially in times of economic change. The development of highly efficient LED-UV expertise at Hoenle is just one of many fundamental building blocks. Whether in electronics production, the automotive sector, medical technology, the semiconductor industry or display production: UV systems from Hoenle can be found wherever precision, speed and process reliability are required. The combination of hardware, consumables and engineering expertise gives the company a level of resilience that pure component suppliers cannot achieve. The company benefits from megatrends that structurally favor UV technology. Miniaturization in electronics, the switch to low-emission production processes and the growing demand for residue-free, fast-curing joining technology and chemical-free sterilization play a direct role in Hoenle's portfolio.
