Sustainability award to Adler for ecological window coating

For the second time in a row, Adler Lacke received an award at the Vienna Window and Sun Protection Congress WFSK: After the Innovation Award 2022, Adler won this year in the category Sustainability.
Adler was awarded at the WFSK for a comprehensive sustainability concept ranging from the processing of renewable raw materials to active substance-free coating structures. As a pioneer for environmentally friendly window coatings, Adler implements its consistent sustainability strategy. "When it comes to this topic, it is not enough to only pay attention to the coating itself and its ingredients. Sustainability requires a comprehensive perspective: from the raw materials, to energy and environmentally friendly production and application, to the long service life and recyclability of the coated window," explains Dr. Albert Rössler, R&D manager at Adler. Therefore, Adler has developed its own sustainability seal: "Adler green" is backed by a comprehensive certification process in the company's own laboratory, in which not only the environmental properties of the products are tested, but also their safety and harmlessness in processing, as well as the product performance - "a high-quality window coating such as Aquawood Diamond from Adler guarantees a long service life and thus conserves resources," explains Dr. Rössler.
A cornerstone of Adler's sustainability strategy is the concept of a sustainable circular economy. "Many of our window and front door coatings carry the Cradle to Cradle certificate. This means that a wide variety of substrates - wood, plastic or aluminum - can be coated sustainably," explains Richard Mölk, Adler division manager for the window industry. The decisive factors for this certification include a high proportion of natural and renewable raw materials and the recyclability of the coated wood. An important topic in this context is the equipment of the coating with wood preservatives: "Currently, the standards require that wood preservatives must be used in most applications. However, there are also window manufacturers or end customers who deliberately want to do without them. For this reason, we also offer coating structures that are free of active ingredients, which, under the right general conditions and with careful application and care, guarantee high-quality and durable protection," explains Richard Mölk, who accepted the Sustainability Award at the WFSK together with Sales Manager Bernhard Schiffthaler, and emphasizes: "The Sustainability Award means a lot to us, as it clearly confirms our pioneering role in the field of ecological window coating!"
