3D object upload and real-time pricing for contract coaters

Surface Solutions adds two new features to its contract coater inquiry and estimating tool, Surface Wizard, for uploading and viewing 3D data and for real-time pricing of 3D objects.

Surface Solutions GmbH, an Upper Austrian start-up specializing in inquiry capture and calculation of coating requests for contract coaters, has introduced a groundbreaking feature: 3D upload and real-time pricing. This advance promises a more efficient coating calculation and a great time saving in the inquiry processing of coating companies.

The new feature allows users to upload 3D data in over 19 different formats and display it in a modern 3D viewer. No installation is required for this; everything can be used via the Internet browser. For example, entire assemblies as well as individual parts can be viewed in detail. Especially useful is that helpful and important data such as volume, weight, surface of the object, surface of the convex hull and much more are advertised automatically.

In addition to this, threads and holes are also automatically detected and listed. One can also choose from 3 different views to understand the geometry of the object in detail. The "X-ray view", for example, is very useful when dealing with closed contours. This way you can quickly see if it is solid material, a tube or other hollow parts, which is very important in the calculation for many coaters. Surface Solutions also goes one step further: It is possible to drag and drop 3D objects into a new calculation. Thereupon, a separate position is created for each uploaded file and relevant things such as article descriptions, dimensions, threads, holes, etc. are automatically pre-filled. Furthermore, the same useful information as in the 3D Viewer is calculated and additionally enriched with information such as powder consumption.
