Improved overall system efficiency during blasting

During blasting, the overall system efficiency can be increased by adding an additive. Oily and greasy residues can be removed from the blasting system very quickly.

The German company PantaTec has been offering its surface technology for more than 15 years. Originally developed in-house as a key improvement in the production of heavy corrosion protection coatings, PantaTec now offers extensive support in the improvement of surface treatment through blasting processes. Its expertise covers a wide range of applications. The overriding goal is to increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and thus reduce unit costs.

One solution - many advantages with the PantaTec process

A decision in favor of the PantaTec process means various advantages: Oily and greasy residues are not only removed from the blasted surfaces, but also from the abrasive and the blasting system. Better cleaning of surfaces for more durable coatings, a cleaner abrasive, less wear and tear on the equipment, a measurably reduced risk of fire and explosion and a more effective blasting system are some of the positive effects. Each of these is in itself a good reason for implementing the PantaTec process. Together, they mean a significant increase in the OEE and therefore the efficiency of the blasting system.

With the correct implementation of the PantaTec process, these negative developments can not only be stopped, but even reversed. Simply by removing the oily and greasy residues, PantaTec significantly increases the effectiveness of the entire process and even measurably reduces the risk of fire and explosion. Used correctly, the PantaTec process ensures that virtually no residues of the cleaning additive remain in the blasting system.

Improve the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of shot blasting

By removing the impurities from the blasting system, PantaTec practically restores the original blasting performance, which leads to a significant improvement in OEE. An increase of between 10 and 20 percent is realistic - sometimes it is even higher. To put this into perspective: even in companies with a small overhead conveyor blast machine, two blast wheels, etc., blasting costs of around €80,000 per year are easily incurred. In companies with large overhead conveyor blast machines and around 16 blast wheels, the total blasting costs per year are €400,000 and more. In these cases, an OEE increase of just 10% would already mean savings of €8,000 or €40,000. Depending on the size of the blasting system and the mode of operation, the payback period can be between two months and two years. With their many years of experience, the PantaTec experts help other users to determine the blasting costs and calculate the amortization period. They can also calculate the economic efficiency of the application.

Maximum effect through precise adjustment

PantaTec technology can be used with almost all industrial blasting processes and almost any blasting system. However, every blasting system is different and the requirements for the quality of the cleaning process also vary. In addition, the cleaning target depends heavily on the type of surface to be blasted, the surface condition of the material and ultimately the aim of the process. A uniform and correct addition of the cleaning agent to the operating mixture can only be achieved automatically using a reliable dosing system. Manual addition to the process is possible for a short test period, but requires the utmost care on the part of the machine operator. In regular industrial operation, process reliability can only be achieved through appropriate automation with the Injecto 05 dosing system. For the most effective and efficient use, the PantaTec technology with the Ultimate Additive and the Injecto 05 dosing unit must be precisely matched to all the factors mentioned above. This can only be done with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the entire production process with all its components. The experts at PantaTec therefore take a very close look at each system and adapt the overall system individually, taking all the necessary factors into account.

Users support users

The PantaTec process was originally developed internally more than 15 years ago to optimize the production of heavy-duty corrosion protection coatings at Eggersmann Anlagenbau. Eggersmann is an international full-service provider in waste treatment and environmental technology. Steel structures and machinery in the recycling industry require particularly sophisticated corrosion protection. After a long and very difficult process, Thorsten Evert's team succeeded in developing the highly efficient blasting agent additive, the automation and application technology and the necessary production processes from scratch. Since the introduction of the PantaTec process, Eggersmann has no longer had any problems with its corrosion protection. It was therefore decided to use the experience gained to advise other users. Background information PantaTech process

PantaTec effectively and quickly binds and removes oily and greasy residues from the previous production process from the blasting system. As a result, blasting dust and dirt particles do not become sticky and can be easily removed. The filter media remain free and can safely clean the operating mixture, the blasting system and, most importantly, the substrate surfaces for coating. Dust extraction, air classifiers and filters function correctly and can keep the entire blasting process and its results clean as intended. The blasting process itself is practically unaffected, the quality of the blasting results remains at a high level, the removal rate is consistently high and improved availability of the blasting systems is also guaranteed. Prematurely clogged filters are avoided and the dust content in the abrasive and blasting system does not increase uncontrollably. High removal rates with short blasting times and consistently good results are thus ensured and repeatable. The air/dust mixture in combination with oily and greasy residues carried in always increase the risk of fire and explosion. With the PantaTec process, these negative consequences can also be eliminated or at least greatly reduced.

About PantaTec

PantaTec deals with the aspect that can disrupt and negatively influence blasting processes right from the start: Contamination of the blasting process by oils and greases. With the PantaTec process, the simple addition of an additive removes unwanted oils and greases from metallic surfaces, binds them and removes them from the process. This means that even greasy metal surfaces can be blasted and even coated directly without any problems.
