High Purity cleaning system in just four months

A complete high-purity system for the final cleaning of capillary tubes was implemented in just four months. This medical system solution was made possible by extensive preliminary tests, contract cleaning and teamwork.

Extensive preliminary tests, contract cleaning and genuine teamwork have enabled LPW Reinigungssysteme GmbH to complete a customized system for Viant Aura GmbH in just four months. The double chamber system from the PowerJet 670 T5 Twin Ultra Medical series is used for the final cleaning of capillary tubes (e.g. in inhalation devices) and is connected to a customized automation solution that ensures clean transfer to the cleanroom.

Test and develop a cleaning concept

The project partners have been working together for many years, which began in 2019 with the first CNp trials in LPW's cleanroom-based test and service center in Riederich. In addition to developing the best cleaning parameters for the capillary tubes, a handling and packaging concept was also designed. This was followed by a contract cleaning period of almost three years with the high purity specialists. With steadily increasing quantities and under the motto "from the lab to the fab". For LPW application engineering, this meant working in coordination with technical sales:

-integration into the customer's overall validation
-definition/definition of quality-relevant parameters and processes
-creation of order-related documentation in the form of batch protocols and comprehensive process monitoring
-development of a product carrier concept suitable for series production
-expansion of the range of components on the basis of experience and processes

Cleaning system based on a high purity system

In the end, Viant decided on its own cleaning system based on the PowerJet Ultra high-purity series due to the increasing demand, the high requirements for process stability and the trusting partnership and good experience with LPW in this regard, with the request to deliver to the Aura site in Spessart within four months. Very ambitious - but based on the previous cooperation and definition of all the important project parameters, this was no problem for the cleaning experts from Riederich. The result was the PowerJet 670 T5 Twin Ultra (Medical) with the following key technical data:

-Batch size 670 x 480 x 300 mm
-Double chamber system with a total of 5 tanks (cleaning, rinsing 1-4)
- Ultrasonic chamber 1 with 25 Hz
- Ultrasonic in chamber 2 with 40 kHz
- H13-filtered hot air drying
- Combined infrared vacuum drying
- Integrated high-performance VE circulation system incl. UV disinfection for the last recirculation rinse
- "Clean" automation as a connecting/transfer element from the pre-process via cleaning to the cleanroom with FFU units and integrated cleanroom airlock

Implementing requirements in technical cleanliness

Based on the integrated process monitoring (e.g. 4-fold conductivity measurement and particle monitoring), a batch protocol is created during operation, carried along with the respective batch via the integrated RFID system and expanded with each process step. The system also includes a water supply consisting of a reverse osmosis unit for treating the city water (approx. 300 μs) to a maximum value of 5 μs. Made possible by the LPW ultrapure water system (UPW) for the production of pre-tempered and sterilized ultrapure water (e.g. conductivity <0.2 μs).

Christian Koblenzer, Head of Customer Support at LPW: "One of our core competencies is our many years of cross-industry experience with ultra-pure processes. We share this very openly with our customers and support them down to the smallest detail on their way to implementing new requirements in technical cleanliness." (OM-9/25)
