Surventis has published its first sustainability report. The report for fiscal year 2025 highlights the company’s achievements in its three strategic focus areas—climate protection, resource efficiency, and safe and sustainable solutions—and outlines the goals it is pursuing through 2030.

Since 2018, Surventis has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations and purchased energy (Scope 1 and 2) by 45 percent; the goal for 2030 is 50 percent. More than 70 percent of the electricity used globally comes from renewable sources; by 2030, this figure is expected to exceed 90 percent. The company has reduced the specific carbon footprint of purchased raw materials (Scope 3.1) by 15 percent and aims to reduce it by 20 percent by 2030. Operational energy intensity has fallen by 26 percent; the target is 30 percent. Another key focus is on solutions and technologies that help customers achieve their own sustainability goals. In 2025, 32 percent of revenue in the assessed portfolio came from solutions that make a measurable contribution to sustainability; by 2030, this figure is expected to exceed 35 percent. These include more than 200 mass-balance products. A major lever for improvement lies in customers’ processes: The StarBloc® thin-film primer, for example, saves about one kilogram of material per vehicle and has been used in more than 1.1 million vehicles since 2021. Digital tools and life-cycle analyses identify where the greatest savings lie and enable informed decisions throughout the value chain. Surventis also takes responsibility in the supply chain. By 2030, more than 90 percent of high-risk suppliers are to be assessed and audited according to ESG criteria.

Surventis Focuses on Climate Protection and Resource Efficiency

Surventis voluntarily prepared the report in accordance with the VSME standard, the European standard for voluntary sustainability reporting developed by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG). The report is based on the company’s first dual materiality analysis. This analysis identified which sustainability issues have the greatest impact on Surventis and where the company itself has the greatest environmental and social impacts. The report covers the 2025 fiscal year, during which Surventis was still part of BASF, and serves as the foundation for future reporting. “For more than 130 years, our coatings and surface solutions have protected the products people rely on every day. This gives rise to a responsibility toward our customers, our employees, and society. As an independent company, we can now fulfill this responsibility with even greater focus, greater commitment, and greater speed. For us, sustainability and economic success go hand in hand,” says Jens Luehring, Chief Executive Officer of Surventis.
