The Summer School of the Department of Electrochemistry and Electroplating at TU Ilmenau from June 14 to 20, 2026 offers Bachelor students and technicians the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of electroplating, batteries and hydrogen.

Electrochemical processes form the foundation of numerous future technologies - from the coating of surfaces to batteries and hydrogen technologies. The Master's degree course in Electrochemistry and Electroplating at the TU Ilmenau is unique in Germany and teaches the relevant fundamentals combined with specific applications. The Summer School, supported by the ZVO, offers the opportunity to get to know this special study profile.

Lectures, laboratory practicals and practical exercises

The one-week program is varied: Lectures introduce the basics of electrochemistry and electroplating and highlight current developments. In laboratory practicals and hands-on exercises, participants work directly on coating systems and electrochemical cells - and experience first-hand how theoretical concepts are implemented experimentally. Interactive group work encourages exchange among participants and with the experts on site. An excursion offers insights into industrial applications of electrochemical processes. Laboratory and campus tours round off the technical program. Joint evening events create space for networking and personal discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. The registration deadline is April 30, 2026.
