Polytec is adding the weld seam inspection systems from Canadian manufacturer Xiris Automation to its portfolio. The turnkey systems for pipes and profiles are based on laser triangulation and are characterized by high resolution as well as fast detection and analysis.

Welding defects as small as 15 micrometers can be detected in real time by the weld seam monitoring systems from Xiris Automation. In addition to these monitoring systems, Polytec also offers Xiris cameras for welding monitoring, which allow the clearest view of the brightest welding arcs and at the same time perfectly depict darker background areas such as the weld pool and seam. The HDR cameras were developed for welding monitoring in visible light and in the infrared range. High-contrast images in the welding arc and the visualization of temperatures in the weld pool enable excellent analyses in a wide variety of welding processes.

Dr. Dirk Samiec, Head of the Photonics Business Unit at Polytec, explains: "The Xiris systems fit perfectly with our focus on offering high-quality solutions for optical quality control and ideally complement our infrared, hyperspectral and X-ray solutions." As an expert in industrial metrology solutions, Polytec provides consulting, demos, sales and service for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
