SKZ: New force tensiometer for surface and adhesion research

The SKZ Plastics Center has expanded its laboratory equipment with the Force Tensiometer Tensíío from Krüss. The new measuring system supports both innovative research projects and industrial services relating to surface, interface and adhesion analysis.
The Tensíío at the SKZ site in Würzbur enables high-precision measurements of surface and interfacial tensions (resolution: 0.02 mN/m), dynamic contact angles and adhesion forces (resolution: 1 µg). The system is supplemented by a sample stage with temperature control jacket, which allows measurements at elevated temperatures of up to 130 °C. This means that temperature-dependent wetting and adhesion processes can also be investigated realistically. In addition, a camera system is available for adhesion measurements, which enables visual analysis of contact and separation processes and supplements the metrological data with optical information.
SKZ expands analytical expertise in surface and adhesion research
"The combination of force measurement, temperature control and visual analysis opens up new possibilities for research and industrial issues," says Michael Heilig, Head of the Bonding and Surface Technology research group at SKZ. "This allows us to offer clear added value both scientifically and in terms of application." The investment strengthens the SKZ's analytical infrastructure and underlines the claim to bring research and industry together with state-of-the-art measurement technology. The measurement technology is also available to companies as part of service measurements or development projects.
