The "Ringier Technology Innovation Award" is presented each year for the most innovative products and to the most innovative company of the year. This year, BYK was named "Innovation Company of the Year" for differentiated and forward-looking solutions.

This is the second time that BYK has received this prestigious award after 2017. In addition, BYK's products RHEOBYK-7650, RHEOBYK-7670 and RHEOBYK-7690 received the "Technology Innovation Award". These novel dust-free associative thickeners, which cover the entire shear range, impressed with their outstanding product properties and environmental friendliness. Jia Cheng, head of the Surface Additives R&D Laboratory, and Becky Zhang, head of the Painting and Architectural Coatings Laboratory, personally accepted both awards in Shanghai on May 31, 2023.

RHEOBYK-7650, RHEOBYK-7670 and RHEOBYK-7690 are solid associative thickeners based on HEUR technology in a unique delivery form: they are supplied as flakes that prevent dust formation but can still be perfectly incorporated - either directly or via a pregel. The solid delivery form also means that no biocides need to be added to prevent microbial infestation and that the products are environmentally friendly. Because of their excellent product properties, RHEOBYK-7650, RHEOBYK-7670 and RHEOBYK-7690 are recommended for use in various coating applications as well as adhesives and sealants, according to the manufacturer. In the coatings market, the long-term trend toward greener products is driving the switch from solventborne to waterborne coatings. More than 50 percent of BYK's research and development activities focus on additives that help customers formulate environmentally friendly products.
