ECS 2023: Silky and matte coating surfaces thanks to bio-based BYK additives

For BYK, sustainability has been an important criterion in the development of new additives for many years. Brand new for the European Coatings Show 2023, BYK is presenting three bio-based and sustainable additives from the Ceraflour product line for coatings.
BYK is expanding its portfolio of sustainable additives with the introduction of Ceraflour 1003 and Ceraflour 1004 - two cornstarch-based, waxy polymers that provide a good matting effect with optimum transparency. Ceraflour 1003 imparts a light surface texture and offers a similar matting effect at different viewing angles and is specifically recommended for wood and furniture coatings as well as for paints and architectural coatings. Ceraflour 1004, on the other hand, has finer particles and results in a light matting effect combined with high transparency and a smooth, soft and silky feel on the surface. It is recommended in wood and furniture coatings, in coil coatings and in paints and architectural coatings.
At the European Coatings Show taking place in Nuremberg, Germany, March 28-30, 2023, another new and bio-based additive will also take center stage on the BYK booth in Hall 3A: Ceraflour 1010. The additive is a micronized wax - based on rapeseed - and offers excellent matting effect as well as high mechanical resistance. This makes it ideal for modern wood coating systems, such as Natural Look formulations, for use in general industrial coatings as well as in painters' and architectural coatings.
