At PaintExpo 2026, Polytec will be presenting the Enovasense system for inline coating thickness determination of powder and paint coatings. The system is suitable for epoxy and polyester coatings on metallic, polymer and composite substrates as well as for enamel coatings.

The coating thickness is measured without contact, without interfering with the production process and in real time. Measurements can be taken directly after the paint has been applied and after curing or drying. Coating thicknesses of 0.2 to 500 micrometres are measured with an accuracy of less than 3% of the measured thickness. The measuring head has a camera for object detection, a laser for targeting the automatically generated measuring points and a blowing device. The system is suitable for different coating line speeds and changing objects; several measuring heads can be combined to determine coating thicknesses from different directions.

Interference-free real-time measurement of coating thicknesses in the production process

The measurement is preceded by shape recognition of the object, on the basis of which measuring points are automatically generated and approached via a 2-axis movable measuring head. This works with a working distance of 150 to 250 millimeters. User-friendly interfaces are available for automation, and measurement data is automatically saved and archived. A reference sample for continuous verification of measurement stability ensures permanently reproducible results. Polytec offers application consulting, sales and service for the Enovasense coating thickness measurement systems and will be exhibiting at PaintExpo in Hall 2, Stand 2311.
