Oltrogge GmbH & Co. KG from Bielefeld has been supporting change in industry for 160 years - and shows why medium-sized industrial partners in particular play a key role in this.

Oltrogge has deliberately remained a medium-sized family business, which is a key success factor for the company. The structure enables short decision-making processes, long-term partnerships and a high degree of flexibility in the implementation of individual customer requirements. In a market environment that is increasingly characterized by dynamism, cost pressure and technological upheaval, this structure is a clear competitive advantage. "We see ourselves as a long-term partner to our customers, with the aim of combining technological expertise with practical advice," says Daniel Oltrogge, fifth-generation managing partner. "Especially as a medium-sized company, we can act quickly, flexibly and close to our customers. Our aim is to develop solutions that will make our customers even more productive, sustainable and resilient in the future."

Oltrogge: From hardware store to industrial partner

This attitude is also reflected in the company's development: since its foundation in 1866 as a hardware store in Bielefeld's city center, Oltrogge has consistently evolved over five generations in parallel with industrial development. As a supplier of compressors and painting technology, the company was already focusing on key industrial production technologies in the early 1930s. A decisive growth step followed in 1981 with the takeover of the exclusive distribution of Mazak machine tools. Since 2003, Oltrogge has also supplemented its portfolio with its own technologies, including mixing and dosing systems from its own Regular brand as well as solutions for demanding surface processes such as pigging and polyester spraying systems. Another milestone in the company's history is the partnership with Atlas Copco, which has been providing new impetus in the field of energy-efficient compressed air technology since 2020 and giving customers access to technologically leading solutions. The company has also evolved structurally: With the recent focus on the core areas of surface technology, compressed air technology and Machine Tools 2025, Oltrogge has further sharpened its strategic direction.

Engineering partner for efficient production

On this basis, Oltrogge has established itself today as an engineering partner for technically sophisticated industrial solutions. With around 120 employees, the family-owned company supports around 4,500 industrial customers from a wide range of sectors and assists them in the further development of their production processes. The company develops and implements holistic concepts - from planning to implementation and service. The spectrum ranges from state-of-the-art surface technology and energy-efficient compressed air and vacuum systems to precision machine tools. The focus is on solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into existing production environments and achieve measurable efficiency gains. Topics such as energy saving, process reliability and transparency are becoming increasingly important, for example through intelligent control systems or digital monitoring solutions. Oltrogge is responding to current developments with a clear strategic focus: energy-efficient solutions across all areas of the company, the expansion of digital services and the targeted modernization of existing systems through retrofit concepts. The aim is to make customers future-proof not only technologically, but also economically and sustainably.
