Mirka Abranet HCX sands hard surfaces

With Abranet HCX, Mirka is expanding its Abranet product family to include a mesh abrasive for hard surfaces and composite materials. It is particularly suitable for hardcoat, gelcoat, and epoxy surfaces.
The Abranet product family continues to grow: With Abranet HCX, Mirka is expanding its lineup to include a mesh abrasive specifically developed for sanding hard surfaces and composite materials. It is particularly suitable for hardcoat, gelcoat, and epoxy surfaces and is designed to provide greater control over the sanding process. When sanding composite surfaces, the goal is rarely to remove as much material as possible. Rather, the focus is on achieving the smoothest possible surface with minimal and controlled effort. This is exactly where Abranet HCX comes in: With its coarser grits ranging from 80 to 180, the sanding system offers rapid material removal, while the finer grits from 240 to 400 ensure high process control and an excellent finish.
Abranet HCX reduces deep scratches during sanding
The new mesh abrasive is aimed, among others, at industrial manufacturers of boats, aircraft, and rail vehicles, as well as at users who work with composite materials and epoxy resins. According to Mirka, tests have shown that Abranet HCX achieves 25 to 33 percent higher initial material removal compared to standard competitive products on the market, while simultaneously reducing the number of deep scratches by 20 percent. When finishing composite surfaces, careful work pays off. By avoiding excessive aggressiveness and instead working with a shallower scratch profile, users reduce the risk of rework and increase the productivity of the entire process. Abranet HCX is designed to offer ease of use, consistent grinding results, and the dust-free grinding performance for which the Abranet product family is known. Abranet HCX is available as a grinding disc with diameters of 125 and 150 mm, as well as a roll in the size 115 mm × 10 m for long-bed sanding tables.
