The 3DInspect software tool from Micro-Epsilon is now available in version 3.0. The most important new feature is the "surface inspection" function extension. It is now possible to detect and evaluate surface deviations.

3DInspect is a user-friendly software tool for all 3D sensors from Micro-Epsilon. Version 3.0 of the software is now available. With the functional extension for surface inspection, it is possible to detect deviations from a homogeneous surface. This means that 3DInspect can be used for digital quality control. The inspection is carried out according to predefined criteria, eliminating subjective influences. This enables defects to be detected at an early stage.

3DInspect with functional extension for surface inspection

Various functions are available for the shape deduction. Small defects such as dents, dings, unevenness or structures can be quickly and reliably made visible with the "Trend subtraction" function. Inspections of series parts can be carried out with high precision using the "digital whetstone". The digital whetstone simulates a whetstone used in car body construction to ensure homogeneous surfaces on body shells. Teaching a "digital master" enables a target/actual comparison. This involves merging one or more IO parts into a master file. The components to be tested can then be compared with the stored master file. A further useful feature is the sorting and counting of raised and recessed areas. This is advantageous for automatic pin detection, for example, as pin lengths within a defined range can be evaluated as OK/NOK.
