Graepel plans sustainability report for fiscal 2022

With the "Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive" (CSRD), the European Parliament created a legal basis in mid-2022, according to which Friedrich Graepel AG must now also submit an annual sustainability report for the annual financial statements from fiscal year 2024. Graepel is anticipating the requirement and is already preparing a corresponding report for the 2022 financial year. Sustainability covers topics outside the financial sphere that affect the company as a significant part of society. The law does not specify a rigid format for this - which thus presents a challenge for some companies. Graepel therefore devised a suitable structure and chose a comprehensive approach. The creation of a new position - sustainability officer Eva Pophanken - and the establishment of a project team set the ball rolling. At Graepel, it consists of ten employees from the two plants in Löningen and the plant in Seehausen/Altmark. The team worked out three major fields of action: people, environment, society.

In the end, the team identified over 50 individual measures, defined measurable targets for them, a fixed time horizon, and named responsible persons and mentors. The team meets three times a year to review implementation and make any necessary improvements. For CEO Felix Graepel, this is a matter of great importance: "As a family business, we know how important the issue of sustainability is for today's generation. The manufacturer of sheet metal components for automotive and mechanical engineering as well as the construction industry has been producing for 134 years and held its own even in the most difficult times. "Sustainable" is therefore what the company says it has always been about, although today it defines this more comprehensively and now also documents it. Graepel intends to complete the voluntary sustainability report for the 2022 financial year, which ended with a good result, in the course of the year.
