Fakuma 2026: The Lüdenscheid Plastics Institute Presents Innovations

The Lüdenscheid Plastics Institute will be showcasing a significantly expanded exhibition presence at Fakuma 2026. From October 12 to 16, 2026, the institute will present the latest developments, research projects, and innovative technologies across the entire value chain of the plastics industry.
At Fakuma in Friedrichshafen from October 12 to 16, 2026, the Plastics Institute will showcase practical solutions for sustainability, recycling, surface technology, electronics integration, and new materials and networking initiatives. For the first time, the booth space has been doubled. In addition to its own booth, the Institute will welcome five other companies to the shared booth: Silcos GmbH, Niebeling GmbH, KVT Bielefeld GmbH, CAQ AG, and Berlac AG. Together, they form a strong community of exhibitors and represent the diversity of the network. The focus of the institute’s booth is on current research and collaborative projects at the Plastics Institute. Other key areas include surface technology solutions, such as new benchmark applications for scratch protection of plastic molded parts. In the field of electromagnetic compatibility, the institute is showcasing new approaches to shielding through the combination of low-melting-point metals with plastics. Additionally, technologies for overmolding electronics with thermoplastics and thermosets, as well as the X2F process, will be presented.

The Real Stone project will showcase materials with high proportions of rock powder. These offer advantages such as isotropic shrinkage, high-quality appearance, a pleasant feel, and cost savings. In addition, the Institute will present its ZIM innovation networks, which are strategically positioned in growth markets, focusing on efficient lighting management, next-generation plastics, sustainability in medical technology, hydrogen, “second life,” and sustainable mobility. With this focus, the Plastics Institute supports the development of innovative solutions in future-oriented industries and promotes the transfer of new technologies into industrial applications. The exhibition is complemented by demonstrators from the research center’s tool coating division. The team at the Plastics Institute looks forward to engaging in personal discussions and welcoming visitors to the joint booth in Hall A5, Booth 5312.
