PFAS focus day at the Lüdenscheid Plastics Institute

The Focus Day PFAS 2026 on the topic of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) and the current situation with regard to the ECHA restriction proposal will take place again on March 4, 2026 at the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid.
Following the conclusion of the ECHA consultation phase and the intensive debates of the last two years, the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid (KIMW) once again invites you to a comprehensive focus day on the topic of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) and the current situation with regard to the ECHA restriction proposal. The focus is not only on current political developments, but also on current solution providers for suitable alternatives to fluoropolymers in the field of materials and coating technology. Even if certain sectors and applications such as medicine, high-tech or energy are considered to have no alternative and are being debated for elimination from the restriction or for very long transitional periods, an entire industry is in a state of upheaval. Wherever alternatives are possible, new technologies will advance in the future.
Developing alternatives to PFAS
For the plastics industry, this means new solutions for e.g: Sliding applications, flame retardants or sealing materials. Clean, safe recycling concepts must be established in the area of applications without alternatives. These and other topics will be covered in a high-calibre lecture program, while a workshop invites participants to exchange ideas on current solutions and/or issues across industries. The focus day also enables participants to get in touch with experts and adapt ideas for business and product development processes. Participation is possible both on site and online.
