With the QuintSonic 7, the Cologne-based company ElektroPhysik achieved a major success in the market for mobile coating thickness gauges. Now users can do without a measuring device altogether.

The new QuintSonic tablet from ElektroPhysik is directly connected to the sensor. It enables convenient detection of up to eight polymer layers on metal, plastic, wood, glass and ceramics, but also on components made of GFRP or CFRP - and in a single measurement process.

The intelligent sensor, which contains all the measurement electronics, is connected to the industrial tablet by cable. One of the strengths and advantages of the tablet (IP67 protection class), which is also suitable for harsh field applications, is the direct display of color A-scans on the 10" display, without the need to first transfer the measurement data to a PC. This is an advantage especially for users who already work with the A-scan during the measurement, for example to define evaluation areas. The measuring principle, which is based on the reflection of ultrasonic waves, has been proven to be suitable for even the most demanding applications in the automotive industry and aircraft construction.
