Dürr is expanding its robotics portfolio for paint shops with the EcoRS Generation 2. Four models designed for different payloads and reach ranges enable sealing, cleaning, and handling applications on a unified robot platform.

With the EcoRS Generation 2, Dürr is introducing a new robot platform for various applications in the paint shop. The series comprises four robot models with payloads ranging from 20 to 150 kg and reach distances of up to 3,100 mm. It thus covers a broad spectrum of sealing, cleaning, and handling applications. Standardization allows numerous applications to be implemented using a single, unified platform. This simplifies system planning, spare parts inventory management, and service processes throughout the entire service life. The EcoRS robots were specifically developed for processes in the paint shop. The combination of robotics, control systems, and application technology—tailored to these applications—enables high path accuracy, consistent material application, and consistently high seam quality, particularly for fine-seam applications. The enlarged workspace also increases flexibility for different vehicle models and future vehicle programs.

EcoRS Generation 2 for Sealing and Paint Shops

Among the most important enhancements of the EcoRS Generation 2 are internal motors for axes 3 through 6 and internal cabling. This reduces the interference contour and improves ease of cleaning. At the same time, the robots’ footprint and weight have been reduced. Robot kinematics, control systems, and application technology are specifically coordinated to ensure high reproducibility and reliable operation. With EcoRS, the robot, controller, and application come from a single source. The platform uses the same control technology as Dürr’s painting robotics and is fully integrated into the Dürr control architecture as well as the DXQ platform. Standardization simplifies maintenance, service, and fault diagnosis. Fewer spare part variants and reduced inventory are intended to lower both operating expenses and total cost of ownership.
