Dürr Delivers Its 20,000th Paint Robot to Ford in Spain

With the delivery of its 20,000th painting robot, Dürr has reached an important milestone. The anniversary model is part of the new EcoRP4 generation and is being used in a new primer station for exterior painting of the Ford Kuga at the Ford plant in Valencia.
The Dürr EcoRP4 painting robot, model L033L/R, was installed in August 2026 and is now in operation. As one of the first robots of this new generation, it works in conjunction with the proven EcoBell4 rotary sprayer to ensure the precise and resource-efficient application of primer to vehicle bodies. “Dürr’s 20,000th painting robot represents decades of experience in automated painting. The fact that this milestone was reached with one of the first models of our new EcoRP4 generation underscores our commitment to consistently combining innovation with proven technology,” says Marcus Treppschuh, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Dürr. With the EcoRP4, Dürr has designed the fourth generation of its painting robots with a consistent focus on cost-effectiveness, ease of maintenance, and flexibility. The robots can be integrated into various system configurations—from floor-mounted setups and tower solutions to use on linear guide rails such as EcoRail X2 or EcoRail S2. Thanks to a reduced number of components, simplified mechanics, and a streamlined design, maintenance and lifecycle costs are lower compared to the previous generation. At the same time, the proven process technology for high-quality paint application is retained.
Dürr painting robots in use in Spain since 1998
For the new primer station, Ford is relying on several Dürr technologies to increase application efficiency and reduce material loss. The EcoMCC3 A/B paint changer, together with the latest generation of EcoBell4 Pro 2x1K atomizers, minimizes paint and flush fluid losses. The system is complemented by the High Transfer Efficiency (HTE) process, which enables exceptionally high application efficiency and significantly reduces overspray. The combination of EcoBell4 technology and the HTE process lowers operating costs while simultaneously reducing VOC emissions. With the installation of its 20,000th painting robot, Dürr is building on its long-standing presence in the Spanish market: the company delivered its first painting robot to Spain as early as 1998.
