Draft DIN Standard for Chromium(VI)-Free Passivation of Aluminum Published

The draft standard E DIN 50935-2, “Chromium(VI)-Free Passivation of Nonferrous Metals—Part 2: Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys,” was published with an issue date of August 2026. The deadline for comments is September 3, 2026.
E DIN 50935-2 specifies the performance characteristics of conversion coatings on aluminum or aluminum alloys. This document does not apply to coatings produced by anodic oxidation. It specifies the designations for the coating systems described. Performance characteristics include: corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, overcoatability, bondability, and vulcanizability.
