CemeCon celebrated 40 years of company history at its anniversary summer party. The company is entering its anniversary year with a newly organized executive board.

Since its founding in 1986, CemeCon has been developing coating technologies for cutting tools. Headquartered in Würselen, the company is now one of the leading providers of HiPIMS and diamond coatings and celebrated its anniversary with a summer party. These technologies are used worldwide in demanding applications, including the automotive, aerospace, and medical technology sectors. Coated tools achieve longer service life, enable higher cutting parameters, and improve surface quality and process reliability. This success is based on the company’s in-house development of coating systems, continuous process optimization, and—according to the company—the world’s largest coating center for cutting tools.

40 Years of Coating Expertise for Machining

In its anniversary year, CemeCon also restructured its Executive Board. Bernd Hermeler took over as Chairman of the Executive Board from Dr.-Ing. Oliver Lemmer in May 2026. The new Executive Board also includes Christoph Feig as COO and Dr.-Ing. Beate Hüttermann as CMO (as reported by Oberfläche-Online). With this realignment, the second-generation family-owned company is focusing on continuity and long-term development. Today, CemeCon employs approximately 350 people worldwide and, in addition to Germany, has subsidiaries in the U.S., China, Japan, and India. The international network is complemented by partners in other key industrial markets. According to the company, investments in technology, qualified employees, and its global coating service are intended to form the foundation for further growth and meeting future market demands. The new CEO, Bernd Hermeler, believes CemeCon is well-positioned: “With the newly organized Executive Board—which now includes two additional long-standing CemeCon employees at my side: Christoph Feig as the new COO and Dr.-Ing. Beate Hüttermann as CMO—we are firmly reaffirming what CemeCon has always stood for: a strong combination of consistency and continuous innovation. This is how we have succeeded for 40 years in continuously improving our core competence in the coating of cutting tools while simultaneously identifying and implementing new market requirements at an early stage. Four decades of CemeCon mean four decades of investment in technology, in people, and in trust. On this foundation, we look to the future with confidence—for our customers, our business partners, and for all our colleagues.”
