Axalta introduces new Standox Standoflow basecoat

Axalta is launching Standox Standoflow, a water-based basecoat for bodyshops and paint stores. The system is based on wet-on-wet application, high opacity and simplified color management.
The new Standox Standoflow basecoat from Axalta is designed as a water-based system for bodyshops and paint stores. The focus is on stable application, a uniform effect and the avoidance of cloud formation. It is applied in a wet-on-wet process, which reduces the number of process steps. Full opacity is achieved with just two and a half spray coats. The application is supported by digital color management. In combination with the Axalta Irus system and a database with more than 100,000 plain and effect colors, color matching can be implemented quickly and reproducibly. The sprayability of the paint as well as the properties for blending are designed for a wide range of applications in refinishing.
Water-based technology for Standox Standoflow basecoat
"The Standox Standoflow basecoat is based on Axalta's patented waterborne technology and 20 years of continuous development. It has been specially developed to fit seamlessly into existing workflows and offers bodyshops and refinishers not only first-class results, but also protects the environment," emphasizes Fabien Boschetti, Sales Vice President for Axalta Refinish in the EMEA region. The basecoat is available in 100 ml, 350 ml and 800 ml containers. The smaller units allow for needs-based stocking and reduce inventories. At the same time, the bottles are made from 50 percent recycled plastic. The bottle design means that there is no need to use mixing machines, as a quick shake before use is sufficient. The Standox Standoflow basecoat is currently available in several European markets, including Germany, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Expansion to other markets is planned for 2026.
