The 32nd "Stuttgarter Branchentreff: Farbe - Lack - Oberfläche" will take place on May 21, 2026 at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. The focus will be on corrosion protection, additives and the use of AI in research and development.

The next "Stuttgarter Branchentreff: Farbe - Lack - Oberfläche" invites experts from surface technology, coating and materials development to Esslingen for a professional exchange. The face-to-face event will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences on the Stadtmitte campus. The event will take place in room S 4.216 at Kanalstraße 33 and is being organized by the Association of Paint and Varnish Engineers and the Society of German Chemists, among others. The program includes two presentations entitled "Optimization approaches in the practice and theory of surface technology". Dr. Marko Soltau and Benjamin Traxel from Straetmans High TAC will deal with corrosion risks caused by uncoated components along industrial process chains. Their presentation will focus on flash rust, multi-metal corrosion and the use of special additives to prevent damage and quality problems.

Lecture on AI in research and development

Another presentation is dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence in research and development. Mike Bach from Prisma Gesellschaft für angewandte Informatik will explain why many AI projects fail less because of the technology itself than because of inadequate data structures. In particular, he will address the challenges of data quality, organization and digitalized development processes in industrial applications. The presentations will be followed by an opportunity for professional exchange and networking. Participation in the event is free of charge. For organizational reasons, please register in advance by e-mail to Margarete.Zacherl@fpl-ev.de by 19 May 2026.
