Zinq Management Germany taken over by Dr. Birgitt Bendiek

Dr. Birgitt Bendiek is now Managing Director of the Zinq Group's German division, responsible for almost 1,000 employees at over 20 locations. The metallurgist has been with the company for 20 years, many of them in a managerial role.
With the appointment of Dr. Birgitt Bendiek as Managing Director, Zinq is relying on expertise from within its own ranks and on continuity. As an energy-intensive company, Zinq is currently facing major challenges: developing new potential for the proven Zinq surfaces in a difficult economic environment and at the same time driving forward the transformation of surface technology towards climate neutrality and a circular economy. "Consolidating and investing at the same time - to achieve this, we must consistently align our services with current market developments and drive forward the transformation of the company. This requires a rethink and new structures - and this is exactly what we have already initiated at Zinq in order to make our production more efficient. I see it as my central task to shape the transformation process together as a team and to lead it responsibly," explains Dr. Birgitt Bendiek. She has the best qualifications for this: Dr. Bendiek has been with Zinq since 2005, initially in the Technology and Integrated Management Systems department. After her first operational responsibility as Plant and Business Unit Manager, she became Managing Director of Zinq Technologie GmbH (ZT) in 2014, where she was responsible for the development of new surface technologies and thus also for the material and energy transformation of the company.
As Managing Director, Dr. Birgitt Bendiek wants transformation to circular surface technology
The transformation to circular surface technology is a central goal of the Zinq Group, which has been driven forward within the company for over ten years with the Planet Zinq business model. "Our goal is a truly circular economy - based on the principles of Triple Zero: no emissions, no waste, no pollution. I am convinced that we can sustainably strengthen our competitiveness through future-oriented action. It is a challenging path, but we at Zinq will continue to pursue it consistently. My task now is to implement this transformation at all of Zinq's German sites," says Dr. Bendiek. Dr. Bendiek completed her doctorate at the Institute for Metallurgical Process Technology and Metal Recycling at RWTH Aachen University in 1998 and then began her professional career at an international zinc producer. She switched from zinc to Zinq in 2005 and is a member of the DIN committee NA 0862-01-75 AA "Hot dip coatings" and the working group ISO/TC 107/SC4 "Hot dip coatings". She is also involved in various industry committees that deal with innovation and sustainability (including Zentralverband Oberflächentechnik e.V. and In4Climate NRW).
