ECS 2023: Evonik solutions for the coatings and adhesives industry

The focus of specialty chemicals group Evonik's ECM presentation at Booth 426 in Hall 3C will be on additive solutions that improve both the performance and sustainability profile of customers' end products. Highlights include new products for architecture, automotive, marine, infrastructure, packaging, wind energy, and wood and furniture applications. "Modern additives for coatings and adhesives need to be innovative, tailor-made and based on renewable raw materials to make our customers' end-use applications more resource-efficient and environmentally friendly," says Claudine Mollenkopf, head of the Specialty Additives Division. "With our technical expertise, we support our customers in developing sustainable and forward-looking solutions." Product examples include additives, resins and monomers that enable higher-performance automotive applications, beautify facades and interior walls, better protect buildings and thus make them more durable, or high-performance coatings, printing inks and adhesives for smart packaging solutions that not only keep food fresher longer but are also more environmentally friendly.

Among the forward-looking products that will be presented at the European Coatings Show 2023 are small silica particles for durable architectural and wood coatings: Spherilex DP-0110 enables the desired gloss level to be set for matt and silk matt paint surfaces, while improving their mechanical robustness. Solutions for visually appealing automotive paints and wood coatings will also be presented: Tego Wet 290 and Tego Wet 296 improve wetting and anti-scratch properties for better flow of water-based automotive and wood coatings. Or modern anti-corrosion coatings: VPS Sivo 240 is a 2-in-1 additive that provides long-lasting corrosion protection and facilitates the application of solventborne and solvent-free coatings, reducing VOC content and improving sustainability.
