Draft standard DIN EN ISO 4042/A1 published
The draft standard E DIN EN ISO 4042/A1, Fasteners - Electroplated overlay systems - Amendment 1 (ISO 4042:2022/DAM 1:2025); German and English version EN ISO 4042:2022/prA1:2025, has been published with issue date 2025-07, as announced by the ZVO. The deadline for comments is July 30, 2025.
This document specifies requirements for fasteners made of steel with electroplated coatings and coating systems. The dimensional requirements shall also be applied to fasteners made of copper or copper alloys. It also specifies requirements and gives recommendations to minimize the risk of hydrogen embrittlement; see 4.4 and Annex B. It applies mainly to fasteners with zinc and zinc alloy plating systems (zinc, zinc-nickel, zinc-iron) and cadmium, which are primarily intended for corrosion protection and other functional properties: - with or without conversion coating; - with or without sealing; - with or without top coat; - with or without lubricant (integral lubricant and/or subsequently applied lubricant).
