Teledyne Flir's new Flir E5 Pro and E6 Pro thermal imaging camera models for fast and effective inspections now feature Flir Ignite cloud connectivity and point-and-shoot capability for non-focus thermal imaging, as does the E8 Pro.

Teledyne Flir introduced the new Flir E5 Pro and Flir E6 Pro non-focus inspection cameras. The devices feature a larger 3.5-inch touchscreen and cloud connectivity with Flir Ignite in the same pistol-grip, point-and-shoot design as the older Ex-Series thermal cameras. The versatile cameras are primarily designed for close-up, professional mechanical, building and electrical inspection scenarios using thermal imaging. This includes detecting water intrusion, air leaks, electrical connections, temperature differences between equipment and impending equipment failures. With an integrated touchscreen, users of Flir Ex Pro units can share images with colleagues, partners and customers via Wi-Fi using Flir Ignite Cloud software. Flir offers free storage up to 1 GB, and access to the Flir Ignite Cloud can be done via a variety of mobile devices, web browsers or desktop PCs. This eliminates the need to carry additional USB flash drives, memory cards or cables. "Effective condition monitoring programs today require networked, cloud-enabled thermal imaging devices like the Ex Pro Series that allow inspectors to quickly and efficiently share and analyze data in real time," said Rob Milner, global business development director at Teledyne Flir. "Not only does this give inspectors a better understanding of potential equipment failures and more comprehensive insights, it also allows companies to more accurately plan necessary maintenance actions using easily accessible data and analytics via Flir Ignite Cloud and Flir Thermal Studio."

The Flir Ex Pro series features an enhanced 640 × 480 screen resolution, showing more visual detail when combined with the Flir E6 Pro's respective 240 × 180 thermal resolution and the Flir E5 Pro's 180 × 120 thermal resolution. The Ex Pro series cameras also feature integrated 5 MP resolution digital cameras and LED lights that allow users to better overlook the inspection area and capture visual details even in low-light conditions. With Flir's patented Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX®) feature, which overlays edge details of the camera in the visible area on top of the thermal image, the user sees more detail even in low-light conditions and can consider context without losing thermal data. For outdoor and harsh industrial environments, the entire line of Ex Pro cameras is drop tested from a height of two meters. The rugged design meets IP54, shock resistance up to 25 g and vibration testing at 2 g, and features a built-in lens cover for added protection.
