Dürr business figures 2022: Record incoming orders and sales revenues

The Dürr Group set new records for incoming orders and sales in 2022. Despite the difficult overall economic environment, orders increased strongly by 17 percent and exceeded the 5 billion euro mark for the first time at 5,008 million euros.
Dürr's sales grew by 22 % after the subdued previous year and exceeded the target range (€ 3,900 to 4,200 million) at € 4,314 million. At 5.4%, the EBIT margin before special items reached the target corridor that has been in effect since May (5.0 to 6.5%). Earnings after taxes increased by 58% to €134 million. At €117 million, free cash flow remained at the high level of the previous year (€121 million). Dr. Jochen Weyrauch, Chairman of the Board of Management of Dürr AG: "In 2022, we benefited strongly from the alignment of our technology offering with the future topics of sustainability, e-mobility and automation. Many customers invest in these areas even in the face of economic headwinds in order to secure their competitiveness in the long term. This makes our business more resilient than average." In the current year, the MDAX-listed machinery and plant manufacturer aims to grow profitably: "We started the year with a record order backlog and aim to increase sales by up to 11%. The EBIT margin before special items is also expected to increase significantly and reach 6.0 to 7.0%," says Dr. Jochen Weyrauch. An increasingly important growth driver is the trend towards sustainable production processes. "Sustainability is becoming increasingly important as an investment motive. Automotive manufacturers have ambitious decarbonization targets. To achieve these goals, they need to convert production steps such as painting to low-emission technologies. We supply the right solutions for this," says Group President Weyrauch.
Noticeable improvements in the supply chain situation in the second half of the year contributed to the strong sales expansion. At the same time, the less restrictive Corona policy in China supported the sales momentum. Sales growth was driven by all five divisions of the Dürr Group. Construction of paint shops and assembly lines for the automotive industry (Paint and Final Assembly Systems) grew the most, by more than 30 %. The service business increased by 8% to € 1,219 million and accounted for 28% of sales. As of December 31, 2022, the Dürr Group employed 18,514 people. This is 712 people or 4.0 % more than at year-end 2021. The Dürr Group started the year with a very high order backlog of € 4,014 million. On this basis, sales are expected to grow to between € 4,500 million and € 4,800 million in 2023. Incoming orders are expected to decline somewhat after the record set in 2022 and reach a range of € 4,400 to 4,800 million.
