Eco Bell rotary atomizer from Dürr paints plastic parts cost-effectively and saves material

With rising prices for materials and cleaning, the use of high-rotation atomizers instead of conventional spray guns is becoming increasingly profitable. The global technology company Valeo is using Dürr's EcoBell technology for the first time in its production facility in Hungary, thereby increasing productivity while reducing paint consumption.
Dürr's EcoBell atomizer series sets the standard for demanding industrial painting tasks with high painting quality, minimal paint consumption and short rinsing times. Until now, however, plastic components have very often been coated with the less expensive spray guns. Valeo has now decided to make a change: for the first time, the global supplier will be using high-rotation atomizers at its site in Hungary. In future, an EcoBell rotary atomizer mounted on a painting robot from Kawasaki will be used to paint plastic interiors for electric vehicles. Dürr is supplying the complete equipment for the new paint shop, from paint supply to application, consisting of an EcoPump-AD package, a fluid board, a two-component mixing and metering system and the EcoBell high-voltage rotary atomizer.
Before a rotary atomizer was used for the first time at Valeo, Dürr had to prove that the technology was compatible with the company's processes and specifications. Dürr and the integrator ERMA Concept worked hand in hand to achieve this and successfully provided proof in the ERMA Lab test laboratory. The EcoBell impresses with its excellent coating quality and, ultimately, its cost-effectiveness. The high application efficiency and the upstream mixer block in the robot arm minimize paint and rinsing agent consumption as well as cleaning effort. In addition, the cycle time can be reduced compared to the previous application, thus increasing productivity. The savings and efficiency gains mean that the higher investment costs for a high-speed rotary atomizer are quickly amortized, particularly in view of the rising costs for paint and rinsing agent. The lower paint loss and rinsing agent consumption also ensure a more sustainable painting process.
