Dürr won the Automotive News Pace Pilot Award 2025 with its EcoProBooth booth concept. This reduces energy, paint and solvent consumption in the painting process by using a modular booth layout instead of a traditional linear layout with fixed cycle times.

The flexible design of EcoProBooth allows it to be adapted to different body sizes and painting processes, significantly reducing energy, paint and solvent consumption. This makes the paint booth a highly efficient and sustainable solution. EcoProBooth from Dürr in combination with the EcoBell4 Pro generation makes it possible to paint car bodies both inside and outside in the same booth with solvent-based or water-based paints. The universal atomizer applies narrow spray jets for interior painting, wide spray jets for the outer skin as well as metallic applications. The otherwise required conveying time from one booth to the next is eliminated, saving time. By distributing the tasks, the inactive robots can be cleaned or serviced while production continues. To this end, so-called service cubicles are integrated in each corner of the booth, which can be approached by the robots. EcoProBooth is suitable for all vehicle types, from compact models to SUVs.

Paint shop of the future with modular paint booths

Instead of a traditional linear layout with fixed cycle times, the paint booths are arranged in a parallel production layout, as represented by Dürr's "paint shop of the future". This enables flexible cycle times and maximum efficiency. In addition, EcoProBooth achieves an air recirculation rate of 95% and requires only 5% fresh air, minimizing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Overall, energy consumption is reduced by up to 80% compared to wet separation in classic lines and by 45% compared to conventional dry separation. Dürr impressed an independent jury of experts in Detroit with this innovation on April 15, 2025. The Automotive News Pace pilot program was held for the fifth time. The competition was open to suppliers and start-ups that have invented products, software/IT systems or processes, as well as idea incubators that have the potential to change the automotive industry.
