SurTec on SurfaceTechnology: Chromium(III) process as a substitute for chromium(VI)

At Surface Technology Germany 2022, SurTec will present innovative technologies from the fields of functional and decorative electroplating. Among them is the chromium(III) process SurTec 883 XT as a substitute for chromium(VI) processes as well as SurTec 851 for satin matt, non-reflective nickel coatings.
The focus of SurTec's presence at SurfaceTechnology (Hall 1, Booth C33/25) will be on the SurTec 883 XT chrome(III) process, which is a complete replacement for conventional chrome(VI) processes in every respect, and on the new SurTec 851 for exclusive designs with a satin sheen. In addition, the surface technology specialist will be showing its new developments in the field of functional electroplating. According to SurTec, it has succeeded in optimizing the classic galvanizing or zinc alloying processes in such a way that the most innovative applications are possible under only slightly modified conditions.
Using the chromium(III) process developed by SurTec, color values can be achieved at comparable process costs that previously could only be achieved using the chromium(VI) process. This plays a particularly important role in the automotive and sanitary industries, but is also used in numerous other sectors such as medical technology. The new SurTec 851 enables silk-matt, non-reflective nickel coatings with an extremely uniform finish that meets the requirements of leading automotive manufacturers. The additive system prevents blemishes such as pores or spots. A wide range of satin effects is available, which can be adapted to new designs as required. The company will be present at the trade show's technical forum with a presentation on "Current requirements for passivation coatings in cathodic corrosion protection".
