SurTec at the ZVO Surface Days 2024

SurTec will be exhibiting at the ZVO Oberflächentage 2024 at stand 23. This year, SurTec will be focusing on greater efficiency in functional electroplating and solutions for chromium(IV)-free plastic chrome plating. There will also be two presentations by SurTec experts.
In addition to presenting its innovative products for surface technology, the SurTec team of experts for the German and international market is looking forward to an informative exchange with visitors to the ZVO Surface Days. The SurTec experts will be giving two presentations on the above-mentioned focus topics. On the one hand, Dr. Sven Neudeck, Team Leader Research and Development Decorative Electroplating at SurTec International, will present a modern decorative process that is completely Cr(VI)-free from pretreatment to the final layer and meets all regulatory requirements. The focus is on a manganese-based plastic pre-treatment with a new type of catalyst system, which significantly simplifies and shortens the process sequence. Testing the performance and limits of the new process produced convincing results: there were no problems with rack metallization and high selectivity on 2K components.
Secondly, Dr. Christine Rohr, Senior Product Expert Functional Electroplating, SurTec International, will give a presentation on the functionalization of surfaces. Based on the automotive industry, the requirements for cathodic protection coatings are changing worldwide: corrosion protection must be improved, while at the same time many other requirements such as color, adhesion or mechanical properties must also be met. Cathodic corrosion protection is generally a multi-layer system whose individual layers must be well coordinated in order to meet the requirements of the overall system. The presentation deals with the requirements placed on the individual layers and how these can be (partially) fulfilled. It also discusses what should be taken into account so that the overall system can also meet outstanding requirements for wheel bolts or locking bolts, for example. In addition to the focus topics from the areas of functional and decorative electroplating, SurTec will be presenting proven solutions such as alkaline zinc/nickel processes, which are still the undisputed benchmark in cathodic corrosion protection. In addition, there will be new passivations with low energy consumption, such as blue passivation. In addition, the surface technology specialist will be showcasing chromium(III)-based processes that not only impress in terms of color and quality, but also with transparent process costs based on in-depth experience.
