SurTec and Chem-Trend at Euroguss 2024

For the third time, SurTec and Chem-Trend - both companies of the Freudenberg Chemical Specialities Group - will jointly present future-oriented solutions for the die casting industry at Euroguss from January 16 to 18, 2024.
At Euroguss 2024, SurTec and Chem-Trend will be demonstrating how the die casting industry can overcome new challenges in the field of process chemicals. The key issue of careful coordination between the cleaning of castings and the lubricant used during the molding process will be addressed. Topics to be presented at the show include solutions for current trends in the die casting industry: structural components, including those related to giga-casting and its high demands on structural quality, casting cleanliness and the benefits of rheocasting, as well as environmentally friendly solutions. "The requirements for process chemicals in die casting are increasing considerably in all areas, especially in the automotive industry. Microspray applications, for example, are increasingly coming into focus due to their high productivity and their positive impact on environmental issues, as are relatively new processes, especially rheocasting. Together with SurTec, we will be demonstrating at Euroguss 2024 how the die casting industry can effectively benefit from such developments through the use of innovative mold release agents, high-performance cleaners and one-stop passivation," says Darko Tomazic, die casting expert at Chem-Trend.
SurTec and Chem-Trend will show how die-casting processes can be improved in terms of component quality and how die-cast molded parts can be safely cleaned in subsequent process steps. The focus will be on structural components, for example, which today - also in view of the growing demand in the field of e-mobility - must meet ever higher quality requirements. Equally important are new, naturally hardening aluminum alloys, which place new demands on the mold release agents used in the casting process and in the subsequent value chain. Many components are subjected to a so-called WBK process (WBK stands for "washing", "pickling" and "preserving"). Ideally, the components are then prepared for the subsequent process steps using SurTec's innovative passivation solutions. The need for ecologically sustainable solutions also plays an important role for the two partners. The joint research of SurTec and Chem-Trend with regard to customized solutions has been an integral part of the companies' product strategies for several years. While Chem-Trend focuses on Hera tool lubricants, the partner concentrates on its SurTec 650 solution for the passivation of aluminum and its low-temperature portfolio in the field of industrial parts cleaning. "At Euroguss 2024, we will be demonstrating specific applications for our customers. These include mold release agents as well as the immediate, efficient cleaning of surfaces and their optimal preparation for further processing steps. We will explain the advantages that users can benefit from along the entire value chain," says Dr. Jens Krömer, Director Global Markets at SurTec. At Euroguss, which takes place from 16 to 18 January 2024 in Nuremberg, experts from SurTec and Chem-Trend will be available in Hall 7A, Stand 110, to answer questions about process optimization and advise users on specific challenges in the production process.
