Planning day: Visit by students from the technical college

Plantag Coatings GmbH has been committed to training future specialists for many years and works closely with educational institutions such as the Felix-Fechenbach-Berufskolleg (Detmold) and the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences. As part of these partnerships, students from the technical college specializing in wood technology visited the Plantag Coatings GmbH technical center in January 2025 to take part in a hands-on training course on the topic of "Industrial surface coating". During their training, the prospective technicians deal with the development and manufacture of furniture. This includes translating customer requests into finished designs, defining technical specifications and taking economic and ecological requirements into account. A special feature of the training at the Felix-Fechenbach-Berufskolleg is the opportunity to complete preparatory courses for the master craftsman's examination in parallel with the technician training.

Regular training sessions at Plantag Coatings' technical center give students a practical insight into industrial surface coating. During the current visit, topics such as industrial wood and roller coating, spray coating and the quality control of furniture surfaces were presented. Modern technologies such as UV curing and excimer technology, which are becoming increasingly important in the furniture industry, were also presented. "We want to give young people practical experience and optimally prepare them for the requirements of industry and trade as part of our long-standing collaborations. The transfer of knowledge and the close integration of theory and practice are very important to us," says Sarito Wolsiffer, Product Manager at Plantag. With this cooperation, Plantag is underlining its commitment to the next generation of wood technology specialists and is sending out an important signal for sustainable specialist training in the region.
