The German Coatings and Printing Inks Association (VdL) has appointed Viktoria Tarasenko, a political scientist, to the position of Public Affairs Officer. She succeeds Lucas Schmidt-Weihrich, who left the VdL in the spring.

Viktoria Tarasenko was born in 1987 in Bishkek in the former Soviet Republic of Kyrgyzstan. At the age of 12, she came to Germany with her parents. The family moved to Osnabrück, where Tarasenko graduated from high school in 2008. After a few semesters of business law, she decided to major in European Studies at the University of Osnabrück. In 2014, Tarasenko earned her master's degree in political science, Department of International and European Politics at Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg, Germany. Her master's thesis focused on the "hybrid war in Ukraine." From 2018, Viktoria Tarasenko worked as a project manager at the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) in Eschborn in the field of export control. In 2023, she moved to the Frankfurt RhineMain Regional Association. There, she was involved in the monitoring of legislative procedures as well as in the consulting and acquisition of funding projects in the European Office.

Since the beginning of September, Tarasenko has been in charge of coordinating the association's political contacts, in particular the "VdL vor Ort" discussion format. The focus of her work will be the EU Commission's Green Deal transformation project, specifically here she will be looking after the topic of the circular economy, including the complex regulations on packaging and packaging waste. "I am pleased that we were again able to competently fill this important position at the interface to politics, and I am looking forward to working with Ms. Tarasenko together with the entire team," said VdL's CEO in welcoming the new officer at the VdL office in Frankfurt/Main.
